How to become a successful dancer using 3 simple steps
I’m going to give you 3 simple tips on how to become a successful dancer….
And these 3 simple tips can be used for anything you do in life… but right now we are going to focus on your dancing….
Number 1. Strategy!
If you train for a competition, without a strategy, you may as well just bury your head in the sand.
You need to know how you are going to get things done!
You need to know how you are going to increase your range of motion of a joint to improve certain dance movements
You need to know how you are going to improve strength levels, to increase your speed and power for dance…
You need to know how you are going to fuel your body throughout this training camp for competition
And because we as dancers have a full schedule, we need to know how to get the best results in the fastest and most effective way possible…
When you design this strategy you must be honest with yourself and know that it is achievable and know that you will stick to it 100%
Number 2. You need to believe in that strategy
You may say to me… I’ve tried everything, there’s nothing else out there for me to try…
And I might say, well I have this plan, and you will butt in and say yes I’ve done something similar…
and I will repeat myself giving another option… okay I have this plan… and again you will say or think, no I’ve done that too…
You will come up with a countless number of reasons and excuses to avoid change…
And here’s my point, If you don’t try something new, if you don’t believe in your strategy and trust your strategy, the result will be the same.
Because the truth is, we won’t really know how effective that strategy is until competition time.
So my second tip for you today is to believe and trust in your strategy.
Number 3. Change your state of mind
We need to get out of that bad habit, we need to leave that state of mind that we were in where we thought nothing worked for us…
We need to start thinking fresh…we need to start to believe…
There’s an old saying ‘we achieve what we believe’
So start believing now, to achieve what you want to achieve!
